A
Life in a Day
Sometimes,
one day in my work as a fund raiser for the University of
Iowa College of Education can help change a life. That's why
there's no other career I'd rather have.
Though
there are some who ask me how I can do a job that involves
asking for private support, my response is always the same-how
can I not do this job, knowing that it makes a difference
in so many peoples' lives?
This year, the UI received just a little more than 14 percent
of its total University-wide funding from state appropriations,
which means that my fund-raising role is more important than
ever for students and faculty in the UI College of Education.
Without adequate financial resources, the College's people
and programs would suffer.
Knowing
this motivates me to continue seeking out methods of support
for UI education. In this search, I meet people in all stages
of life-from older alumni to new students-and each one of
them has a story to tell. Their stories are what inspire me
to keep working on behalf of the UI College of Education's
students and faculty.
I
believe in the human spirit, and my job shows me the best
of that spirit every day. By bringing in financial resources
that will continue to enhance the college's quality, I am
helping students learn and grow. I know that, eventually,
these aspiring educators and scholars will go on to do the
same for others-which means that my work today will have far-reaching
effects on tomorrow.
As
the UI enters the last year of its $1 billion Good. Better.
Best. Iowa. comprehensive campaign, I look forward to
the chance to continue working with alumni and friends like
you in ensuring a better future for students in the UI College
of Education.
I
would welcome the opportunity to talk with you about how your
private support can transform the future of education. By
making a gift for the UI College of Education, you, too, can
help change a life in a day.
