Someone once said, “Find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” In my experience, this especially rings true for University of Iowa College of Education alumni. Our teachers love to teach. Our counselors love to counsel. Our psychometricians love to make tests. In short, people that go into the helping professions are passionate about—and find great satisfaction in—serving others.
Through our programs, students obtain a comprehensive knowledge base and practical experiences that allow them to contribute to our society. They have the skills necessary to communicate clearly, analyze, and problem solve. They receive a sound footing in the psychology of teaching, counseling, and administration that they can incorporate into virtually any profession.
While we proudly meet our primary goal of educating the next generation of teachers, counselors, and psychologists, we take great pride in all our graduates who make positive contributions throughout the world. By using their educational training in one way or another, they remain educators at heart.
We give students the tools to pursue their dreams. They find the strength and confidence to choose careers that combine their education, talent, and passions. It’s rewarding to know that not only do our alumni serve our classrooms, schools, and clinics but also, in countless ways, they inspire our communities and our lives.
