Dean's Message

Sandra DamicoAgainst All Odds

As dean, I have the opportunity to visit with many of our alumni and learn of their remarkable accomplishments. Over time, I have come to realize that through the most impressive of these stories runs a common thread of perseverance. Even though some of our alumni face seemingly insurmountable obstacles, they stay positive, they learn, and they never give up.

What amazes me more than this strength of human spirit is how these alumni turn barriers into challenges and embrace difficulty as opportunity. It's all about attitude. They don't sit back and wait for success to happen. They choose to go after it. Choice, not circumstance, determines success.

Our alumni, as well as our students and faculty, give more than is expected. They commit themselves to quality. They are bold in their decision making and courageous in their actions. They are positive and enthusiastic. They love what they do, and most importantly they feel the need to give back. Through their mentoring, leadership, and fortitude, they perpetuate the dynamic of giving.

I am proud of the College's professional community for being people of value who are dedicated not only to bettering their own lives, but also improving the lives of those around them. To those who have faced hardship, we thank you for all that you teach us.

What we need to remember is the road to success is a journey, not a destination. Believe in yourself. Persevere. Commit to excellence. And most of all, enjoy the ride.
