New Legislation Helps
Support the College of Education
Darryl Borcherding Director of Development |
The
UI College of Education boasts a vibrant community of dynamic
givers. There are few fields where people are as passionate
about the future, or more emphatic about the importance of
the work they do.
Education is all about people
and making people’s lives better. Generous gifts from
alumni and friends make it possible for the College to provide
support for students to pursue their dreams unimpeded, as
well as to recruit and retain outstanding faculty.
The end of 2006 brought great
news for those of you who care deeply about The University
of Iowa College of Education and wish to offer immediate support.
The federal Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows alumni and
friends, for a limited time, to “roll over” portions
of IRAs or other retirement plans, including TIAA-CREF IRAs,
to make charitable gifts—without having to report the
amount withdrawn as taxable income.
You can now witness the benefits of your generosity through
an immediate charitable gift of up to $100,000 from retirement
assets from now through December 31, 2007.
Such a gift can have long-lasting
and far-reaching benefits for the College of Education and
all who benefit from its excellent programs and are touched
by its outstanding graduates. If you are 70.5 years of age
and interested in making a gift from your retirement plan,
please take advantage of this window of opportunity to provide
vital support for the students and faculty of the College
of Education, and for the countless lives and communities
they touch.
