Activities
1.
Write a hint that will help you remember
how to spell 10 of your most difficult words.
Example:
Separate. There is a “rat” in “separate”.
2.
Write two fractions each for 15 difficult
spelling words. For the first
fraction, show the number of vowels in the word compared to the total
number of letters. For the
second fraction, show the number of consonants compared to the total
number of letters.
Example:
“Word” Vowels: ¼ Consonants: ¾
3.
Write a synonym or an antonym for 15 difficult
spelling words.
Example:
“Multiplication” Antonym: Division
4.
Draw a circle and divide it into fourths. In
the four sections, write a spelling word, write the definition, write the
part of speech (noun, verb…), and draw a sketch to show what it
means. Repeat for 7 of your difficult spelling
words.
5.
Outline a shape with 10 of your most difficult
spelling words. You can use
hearts, circles, squares, trapezoids, octagons, etc. Use a different shape for each one.
