
Purpose
The Urban Research Award was establish in honor of Mr. Thomas N. Urban, former president and CEO of Pioneer HiBred International, for his support of research and education. The award stands to perpetuate Mr. Urban's conviction that quality research is the driving force behind improved practice/results, and recognizes outstanding educational research efforts in Iowa.
The Award
Awardees receive monetary awards of $2,000 and are honored at an award ceremony.
Eligibility Criteria
The award, initiated in 1997, is given annually to a researcher who meets the following criteria:
- Is nominated by an active scholar in Iowa or elsewhere who is familiar with the general area of research or scholarship completed by the nominee.
- Has published the research or scholarship in a refereed publication within the past two calendar years and prior to the nomination deadline.
- Lives or works in Iowa at the time of the nomination deadline.
