Academic Credit Opportunities
Teachers who register for APTTI may pursue additional opportunities for graduate-level academic credit and/or Iowa licensure renewal units (additional fees and registration required). University credit is NOT included in the cost of APTTI, but a substantial grant from the Belin-Blank Center will support a portion of the tuition.
For more information about academic credit options, contact Abagael Shrader (Abagaelfirstname.lastname@example.org; 319-335-6148 or 800-336-6463) at the Belin-Blank Center.
Enrolling for academic credit is a two-step process; you must first register with the University of Iowa, and then you must enroll in the appropriate course. Please complete both the university registration and course enrollment processes online before you arrive at APTTI, if at all possible. (Instructions will be emailed to all APTTI participants.) University registration and course enrollment forms will also be available on-site at APTTI check-in, to be held on June 27 between 8:00 – 9:15am.

Enroll for University of Iowa Credit
Teachers who register for APTTI may enroll for optional academic credit from the University of Iowa. Each AP® workshop offers two graduate-level credit hours upon successful completion. For those enrolled for credit, each of the AP® content areas provides 2 hours of credit toward the State of Iowa Talented and Gifted Endorsement (programming strand).
APTTI participants can also enroll in the following online workshop for 1 hour of graduate-level credit, with an automatic 50% graduate tuition scholarship.
Differentiation at the Secondary Level (EDTL:4074:0WKA) High-ability secondary students need differentiation rooted in the content area under study. Advanced Placement® is reviewed as one option for gifted secondary students; alternatives from dual enrollment to mentoring and Open Courseware are explored. Options link student abilities/needs to curriculum applications.
The College of Education is able to offer Iowa Licensure Renewal Units for successful completion of APTTI. Registration for Iowa Licensure Renewal Credit is available through the Teacher Leader Center. Successful completion of an APTTI workshop qualifies for 2 licensure units for a total cost of $100.
