The students still enjoy using Mr. Hopperson when we walk to our specials. I am very impressed that we have been walking quietly and respectfully without him as well. The engaging game has become more of a treat or a goal rather than an expectation the way the marble jar was. (The students used to complain about walking quietly if the marble jar was just filled.) The students look forward to the game and have figured out ways to get better at it. In addition, it has been a great way to encourage students to be honest (Did he touch the floor? Did anyone get skipped?) The students were reluctant to be honest about if they didn't get the goal before. Now, they take pride in reaching their goals honestly and with integrity. Who knew a stuffed animal frog could do all that?!
